PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and reliable paper sheet stacking and separating mechanism capable of stacking even paper sheets with folding habit and reducing the skew in separation in a paper sheet stacking and separating device with one port to stack and store bank notes. SOLUTION: In a paper sheet stacking type paper sheet stacking and separating device with one port which has a guide to set paper sheets to be conveyed into the device therealong when the paper sheets are stacked, stacks and stores the paper sheets to be conveyed by stacking them one by one, and separates the stored stacked paper sheets one by one from the same port used for the stacking, a projecting part is provided on the surface of the guide with the papers being brought into contact therewith where the section in the conveying direction of the surface of the guide with the paper sheets being brought into contact therewith goes over a line to connect the inlet of the guide for the paper sheets to be conveyed to a tip of the guide reached by the paper sheets to be conveyed when they are completely stacked, any collision with the succeeding paper sheets can be avoided by effectively suppressing folding habits of the paper sheets with folding habits by the projecting part, and folding or stuffing of the paper sheets can be reduced thereby.
