PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound suppressing instrument for a tire capable of increasing efficiency of rim assembling work, preventing positional deviation during high speed running, and maintaining effect for suppressing cavity resonance. SOLUTION: This sound suppressing instrument 1 is mounted in an inner bore 5 of the tire composed of a rim 2 and the tire 3. It is provided with an annular basic body 7 made of a sponge material having specific gravity of 0.005 to 0.060 and having an inner peripheral face 7s going round in the peripheral direction of the tire while coming into pressure-contact with an inner bore face 5s2 of the rim 2 by mounting. The annular basic body 7 has cross sectional area S of 1 to 60 cm<SP>2</SP>, height H of 0.5 to 6.0 cm, and width W of 1 to 18 cm on the inner peripheral face 7s in cross section including a tire axis in a free condition. The width is fixed or reduced from the inner peripheral face 7s toward an outer peripheral end, and diameter R of the inner peripheral face 7s in a free condition is 0.90 to 1.10 times diameter Rt of the inner bore face 5s2.
