PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilization apparatus in which a harmful influence produced when a chemical is used is not produced but a result that aquatic creatures or bacteria are annihilated sufficiently can be attained. SOLUTION: This sterilization apparatus is provided with: a filtration unit 1 for filtering original water to be treated to capture aquatic creatures; a shock hydraulic treatment unit 2 for generating shock hydraulic pressure in the filtrate obtained by the filtration unit 1 to annihilate aquatic creatures in the filtrate; and a heat sterilization unit 3 for heating the washing water used for washing a filter medium of the filtration unit 1 to annihilate aquatic creatures in the washing water. The shock hydraulic treatment unit 2 is provided with: a treatment chamber 6 for storing the filtrate; and a gaseous converged detonation generating part 7 for generating a converged detonating wave by converging a detonating wave to be generated by burning fuel and propagating the converged detonating wave through the filtrate in the treatment chamber to generate an underwater shock wave.
