PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably form images. SOLUTION: The developing device includes a developer carrier, and a developing blade 16 having an edge part and disposed such that the edge part abuts on the developer carrier. Where the smallest curvature radius of the edge part is Rc and the curvature radius of the abutting section of the edge part on the developer carrier is R, the ratio of the curvature radius Rc to the curvature radius R is 1≤R/Rc≤1.2. This restrains a change in an amount of sticking toner and ensures the formation of a toner layer of substantially uniform thickness regardless of a change in time.
