PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance electric power steering device which controls an assist with respect to a minimal abnormality by identifying kinds of abnormality of a torque sensor system, and continues the assist. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device calculates a current command value from a torque signal detected by a non-contact type torque sensor, and assist-controls a steering system of a vehicle by drive-controlling a motor with the current command value. The electric power steering device has a dual system of main and non-subcontact type torque sensors, identifies normal, circuit abnormality, and harness abnormality from the output state of the main torque signal and the subtorque signal and a drive signal of the non-contact type torque sensor, and has the function of continuing the assist control while limiting an assist amount when the circuit abnormality is detected.
