Disclosed is a compound of formula I wherein Y is selected from a group consisting of a bond, -CH2- or -O-; each of W, W1 and W2 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and a pharmaceutically acceptable prodrug; and wherein the rest of the substituents are disclosed within the specification. Also disclosed is the use of a pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent and a therapeutically effective amount of one or more of the above compounds of formula I in the preparation of a medicament for treating a viral infection in a mammal mediated at least in part by a virus in the flaviviridae family of viruses, wherein the mammal has been diagnosed with said viral infection or is at risk of developing said viral infection.
