Disclosed is a chimeric analog comprising formula (I), wherein Z is a somatostatin analogue selected from the group consisting of : DPhe-cyclo(Cys-3ITyr-DTrp-Lys-Val-Cys)-Thr-NH2; Cyclo(Cys-Tyr-DTrp-Lys-Abu-Cys)Thr-NH2; DTyr-DTyr-cyclo(Cys-Tyr-DTrp-Lys-Abu-Cys)Thr-NH2; DTyr-DTyr-cyclo(Cys-3ITyr-DTrp-Lys-Thr-Cys)Thr-NH2; DPhe-cyclo(Cys-Tyr-DTrp-Lys-Abu-Cys)-Thr-NH2; and DPhe-cyclo(Cys-3ITyr-DTrp-Lys-Thr-Cys)-Thr-NH2; wherein the rest of the substituents are disclosed within the specification; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; and wherein each moiety depicted between the brackets is, independently for each occurrence, attached to an N-terminal or an internal amine group or hydroxyl group of Z.
