FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of making carbon dioxide adsorbent based on hydroxides of alkali and/or alkali-earth metals, designed for use in apparatus for protecting respiratory organs. The method of making the adsorbent involves placing adsorption particles of hydroxides of alkali and/or alkali-earth metals in a porous fibre material, moulding the adsorbent in form of a sheet and drying. The adsorption particles are placed by depositing an aqueous dispersion of hydroxides of alkali and/or alkali-earth metals in form of a paste or suspension which does not contain a binder on a layer of woven or non-woven fibre alkali-resistant material with subsequent deposition of a second layer of fibre alkali-resistant material on top of the dispersion. Moulding is carried out by rolling the obtained structure between rollers and drying is carried out at 100-140C until residual moisture content of 15-22%. ^ EFFECT: invention increases reaction capacity of adsorbent by 20-40%, which increases possibility of its use in systems of purifying air from carbon dioxide. ^ 5 ex
