Lengths of optical thread bundles - made from ring bundles

A bundle of optical threads is made on a coiling disc with a number of circumferentially fitted rolls and also two radially extending guide forks spaced apart. Between the fork prongs is a gap equal or a little larger than the dia. of a single optical thread. Also provided is a tensioning roll for the thread being coiled. The threads are firmly connected with each other in a region between the forks. The bundle unit is taken off the coiler and placed in a U-frame, in which a number of bundle units are stacked on top of each other. When full, the ring bundle is cut transversely and the bundle unit opened out forming a length of bundled together optical threads. The methods permits the orderly stacking of the threads into a bundle. The bundles are used for "Fiberskopes".
