<p>Longer fibres are separated from other components of a fibre suspension by (a) immersing a series of relatively fine needles in the suspension having a dia. much less than the length of the fibres to be retained, (b) setting up a relative motion between the needles and suspension so that the long fibres remain suspended thereon, (c) withdrawal of the needles from the suspension and permitting the fibres retained on these to slide along them and to fall off their ends.</p> |
