The principal means of lifting are installed above the tank to engage and support the drum during its immersion in or its withdrawal from the tank. The installation also includes an auxiliary support structure for the drum fixed to and at least partially immersed in the tank and designed to receive the drum and support it at the same time as it is supported by the principal lifting means.
