Photographic film - for reproducing imageson a metal substrate

Film includes a coating of metal (e.g zinc) on a plastic plate and superimposed layers of a photosensitive resin (e.g. of the type used in photo-engraving) and photographic emulsion on the metal coating. The photographic emulsion is imaged and developed and the photo-sensitive resin exposed to e.g. UV light through the emulsion. Subsequently the emulsion is removed with e.g. water and the photosensitive resin chemically etched according to the image to produce a print plate. The film is used for producing plates for printing photographs onto personalized cheques and an automatic exposure device incorporating a magazine of negative transparencies may be used to continuously produce plates of the transparencies. The film provides a cheaper method of reproduction.
