<p>1315211 Oil-and-water repellent coating CIBA-GEIGY AG 29 April 1970 [30 April 1969] 20728/70 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions C2 and C3] Substrates are rendered oil-and-water repellent by coating with a homopolymer or copolymer of a compound of formula in which m is 3 to 18, n is 1 or 2 and R is a radical derived from fumaric, maleic, citraconic, mesaconic or itaconic acid. Numerous comonomers are listed and exemplified. Substrates specified are textiles, e.g. cotton, wool, cotton-polyester blend, fibreglass, silk, regenerated cellulose, cellulose ethers and esters, polyamides, polyesters, polyacrylonitrile and polyacrylates, paper, leather, painted wooden and metallic surfaces, wood, masonry, metals, plastics and glass. The coating composition may contain other listed addition polymers, exemplified by poly-n-octyl-methacrylate. The coating is applied by conventional dipping, spraying, brushing, padding and roll-coating.</p> |
