An optical light guide is produced by applying an optically conductive layer in the desired pattern configuration to the surface of an optically insulating substrate. The pattern can be formed by grooves in the latter which are filled out with an optical conductor by casting or growing. A prefd. method is rolling or pressing the pattern from a sandwich made up of a conductive and an insulating foil.
