<p>1319824 Card punching J-C KOURGANOFF 8 June 1970 [9 June 1969] 27508/70 Heading B4B [Also in Divisions B6 and G5] A method of recording information on receiving process data cards from a series or pile of master cards comprises superimposing each master card in turn on the receiving card, recording information on said receiving card from said master card, e.g. by punching holes in the receiving card with a pointed instrument, and returning the master card to said series or pile. Preferably the master cards are returned to the series or pile in a manner which ensures that the order of the cards is unaltered. The master cards may bear a number of questions or answers each matched by a guide hole, in which case holes are punched in the receiving card corresponding to chosen questions or answers. In an appliance for use in carrying out the method the master cards are stored in a tray 2. The top card is removed manually from the pile in the tray by sliding it over a partition 3 and guiding it by slides 4 on to a presentation table 9, Fig. 2, on which a receiving card is already supported. Information is then transferred from the master card to the receiving card by a pointed instrument which may have a pen at one end. The master card is then slid manually via guides 5 beneath the partition 3 and is guided into the bottom of the tray 2 by a sloping strip 12, Fig. 1. The master cards may be moved automatically from the storage tray to the presentation table, or vice versa. The master cards may be joined to form a continuous strip which is wound on a bobbin supported in the tray and is rewound on to a further bobbin after each card has been superimposed on a receiving card.</p> |
