<p>A safety glass (e.g. for use in spectacles or vehicle windscreens) has a transparent plastic adherent coating (e.g. Canada Balsam or a cyanacrylate) formed in >=1 face by spraying or dipping. When the glass is used for spectacles the coating is pref. provided in the face closest to the eye. If the glass breaks, the coating holds the pieces together and prevents injury. Pref. the plastic coating has a higher elasticity than and the same refractive index as the glass.</p> |
