1341755 Gasifying refuse DESTRUGAS A/S 19 April 1971 [24 Feb 1970] 22412/71 Heading C5E Refuse, e.g. town rubbish, sewage sludge and low-value or waste fuels, are gasified or degasified in a retort at a temperature not below 900‹ C., steam heated to not less than 900‹ C., preferably to above 1200‹ C., being delivered to the reactor, optionally with preheated air or CO 2 . A gasification zone is established, the product gas being withdrawn from a point between the zone and the ash outlet, the steam being delivered for concurrent flow with the refuse at a point between the zone and the refuse inlet. The reactor may be additionally heated by fluid flow, e.g. of combustion products from a steam generator, in ducts in the reactor wall, and the reactor may be rotary, and horizontal or inclined. The refuse is preferably preheated to 500‹ to 700‹ C. before entering the retort, and gas may be recycled.
|
