1401078 Gas manufacture JAPAN GASOLINE CO Ltd 27 June 1972 [28 June 1971] 29984/72 Heading C5E A methane-containing gas is made by reforming hydrocarbons having an average of at least two C atoms per molecule wherein the hydrocarbons are divided into at least two functions having different mean molecular weights and are successively steam reformed under adiabate conditions using a Ni-containing catalyst, beginning with the function with the lowest mean M.W. and mixing the product of one reaction with the function having the next highest mean M.W. to provide the feed for the next reaction, the first reaction being at 350- 550‹ C. with 1À0-5À0 molar proportions of steam to C atom present, the second and subsequent reactions being at 300-550‹ C. with a lower steam/carbon atom ration than that used in the first reaction. The hydrocarbons are petroleum refinery gas, liquefied petroleum gas, heavy and light naphtha and kerosine. The fractions are obtained by distillation. |
