PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel in which there is a little possibility of an influence of a detection member on other peripheral components and overall downsizing can be achieved, and a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: A lens barrel includes: a fixed barrel 2; a lens operation member 3 rotatable about an optical axis; and a detection member 4 for detecting rotation of the lens operation member 3. The lens operation member 3 includes a slit formation holding unit 31a having a plurality of slits 31b. The fixed barrel 2 includes: a cylindrical body portion 21; and a detection member holding portion 22. The detection member holding portion 22 holds the detection member 4 movable in a radial direction of the cylindrical body portion 21 in a range from a projection position where a top end of the detection member 4 projects outward in the radial direction of the cylindrical body portion 21 to a retreat position where the top end of the detection member 4 retreats inward in the radial direction with respect to an inner peripheral end of the slit formation holding unit 31a. |
