The invention comprises compounds of formula (wherein either one or two of R 1 , R 2 and R 3 is an alkyl or alkoxyalkyl group of up to 5 carbon atoms and the other(s) is/are hydrogen or acyl; or R 1 is H or acyl and R 2 and R 3 together represent >C (alkyl)2, wherein the two alkyl groups are the same or different and each contains up to 5 carbon atoms) and their preparation from evomonoside by etherification or ketalization, optionally followed by acylation. The inventive compounds are said to be cardioactive and may be made up with carriers into pharmaceutical compositions for oral administration. |
