发明名称 METHOD OF APPLYING A SYNTHETIC RESIN BINDER TO A NON-WOVEN FIBROUS MATERIAL
摘要 <p>1358569 Print bonded fabrics; testing fabrics JOHNSON & JOHNSON 20 Aug 1971 [21 Aug 1970] 22908/72 Divided out of 1358568 Headings D1R D1S and D2B A fibrous web is printed in an intermittent pattern of spaced areas with a stable, alkaline colloidal aqueous dispersion comprising a synthetic resin, a hydroxy containing co-ordinating ligand, e.g. carboxyl, in said resin or in a surfactant present in the dispersion and a metal complex coordination compound; the dispersion being acidified immediately after printing or the fabric heated to expel volatile alkali such as ammonia, whereby metal cations are released from coordination to coagulate the dispersion before it can migrate far. The web may be of orientated carded fibres, or the fibres of such a web may be rearranged by fluid jets; alternatively air laid or wet laid webs may be used. 1¢ inch, 1¢ denier rayon fibres, bleached cotton and 2¢ denier water insoluble polyvinyl alcohol fibres are exemplified, wool, nylon 6, 66 and 610, polyester, acrylic, modacrylic, polyethylene polypropylene and cellulose ester fibres are listed. 1% to 8% acrylic, methacrylic or itaconic acid, polymerised with butadiene/styrene, ethylene/vinyl acetate or with an acrylic monomer are exemplified as binders; polyvinyl acetates, polyolefins, synthetic rubbers, polyurethanes, polyamides and polyesters are mentioned. The aqueous dispersion comprises 0.01 to 60% by weight of resin and, based on the weight of resin, 0.1% to 2% of a (preferably anionic surfactant) and 0.1% to 3% of a zinc tetramine sulphate or other specified metal complex coordination compound. It is applied with a roll engraved with wavy lines to a web wet with aqueous acetic acid. Binder migration is thus reduced to 200% or less, giving bonded areas having a substantially uniform concentration of binder of 50% to 120% by weight based on the weight of the fibres in the bonded areas. The binder may extend through all or part of the web thickness. In order to measure the binder distribution the print bonded fabric is immersed in a boiling solution of Celliton Fast Violet, which renders the cellulosic fibres white and the binder opaque. The dried sample is mounted on a white surface under a ground glass camera to yield as 20 fold enlarged image. The image is scanned by an optical densometer which is set at zero at a binder-free area. Measurements of reflected light are made very 2mm of the enlarged image. The optical density increases from zero to substantially its maximum value (0.6 to 1.0) in moving less than 1mm from an unbonded to a bonded area.</p>
