[Class 69 (iii)] A sewage &c. distributer is rotated by a waterwheel 25 mounted between the feed trough and the distributer and carrying a driving wheel or roller 20 bearing against a ring 19 carried by the distributer. The distributer may comprise a pan 10 carrying perforated arms 16 and mounted to rotate in a ball or other bearing. The wheel 20 may bear against the rim of the pan or on a separate ring carried by it. The waterwheel may be mounted on bearings carried by a forked bracket 26 carried by a feed trough 23 or it may be supported by a fixed bearing on the wall of the filter bed and an arm carried by the feed trough. As shown, the wheel is overshot but a breast wheel may be employed. Intermittent dosing may be effected by having one side of the wheel weighted or by forming a flat on the driving roller.</p> |
