Describe are antibodies or antigen-binding portions thereof that specifically bind to the BAFF receptor (BAFFR) with a Kof 100 nM or less and inhibit BLyS induced human B cell proliferation with an ICaround 10 nM or less and deplete B cells in vivo or in vitro. Further described are pharmaceutical compositions and the use of said antibodies or antigen-binding portions thereof for treating pathological disorders mediated by BAFF receptor or that can be treated by killing or depleting B cells, such as systemic lupus erythematosus or rheumatoid arthritis or other autoimmune diseases or lymphomas, leukemias or myelomas. The invention also discloses an isolated nucleic acid encoding said antibody or antigen-binding portion thereof, a vector comprising said nucleic acid, a host cell comprising said vector, and a process for the production of the antibody or antigen-binding portion thereof. |
