1376401 Thermostic valves; carburetters VERNAY LABORATORIES Inc 28 Jan 1972 [9 April 1971] 4222/72 Heading F1B [Also in Division F2] A thermally-responsive valve closure member assembly comprises a core member 24, Fig. 1 having a relatively high coefficient of linear thermal expansion compared to a casing 10 in which it slides, abutments on the core and casing 28, 18 for engagement on expansion of the core and a stop 30 on the core urged into engagement with a stop 32. In operation at temperatures below a preselected temperature the core 24 is positioned as in Fig. 1. As the temperature increases the core 24 expands to control the flow through port 44 until shoulder 28 engages abutment 18 at the preselected temperature. Continued increase in temperature and expansion of the core is accommodated in casing end 16 in opposition to spring 36 so that the flow area of port 44 is not further significantly reduced. The core member may be of nylon, polyethylene, acetal resins, acrylics or polyvinylidene fluoride. Specification 4221/72 (Co-pending 30/8/74) is referred to.
