PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection device and inspection method, which enable accurate inspection of seal portions of tilted articles.SOLUTION: An inspection device 1 includes a determination unit 43 configured to determine the presence of defects in seal portions 62 of a packaging material 60. When an article area 52 corresponding to an article G is tilted relative to array directions, or column and row directions of pixels of a transmission image 50, the determination unit 43 rotates a mask generating area M1 by a predetermined angle in one direction such that a prescribed direction of the mask generating area M1 including the article area 52 is aligned with the column direction or row direction, generates a mask area MA corresponding to an accommodating area A in which contents 61 is accommodated based on the rotated mask generating area M1, and rotates the mask area MA by the predetermined angle in the other direction opposite the one direction to set up the mask area in the accommodating area A.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
