PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive plastic optical fiber that can use a long-life laser diode light source light and is expected to be spread generally.SOLUTION: A plastic optical fiber is a plastic optical fiber composed of a core part and a clad part disposed at an outer periphery of the core part, and is composed of an annular polymer containing fluorine that includes a structure unit expressed by a general expression (1) and essentially has C-H bond. In the core part, a compound having a higher refractive index than at least one kind of annular polymer containing fluorine is added as a dopant, and a difference in the refractive index between the core part and the clad part is equal to or more than 0.002.SELECTED DRAWING: None
