1388523 Hydroxylamines RHONE-POU- LENC SA 29 May 1973 [29 May 1972] 25389/73 Heading C2C Hydroxylamines of Formula I in which each of R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 and R 5 is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl, phenylalkyl or alkylphenyl, or in which at least one pair of R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 and R 5 on adjacent carbon atoms of the benzene ring, together with those two adjacent carbon atoms, forms a benzene ring, which is unsubstituted or substituted by an alkyl group, are prepared by hydrogenating a compound of Formula II in the presence of a catalyst comprising platinum and an organic base, the pKa of which is less than 3À2, the ratio of weight of the amount of organic base to that of the nitro compound being greater than 0À1 : 1. Examples of bases which can be used in the process are diethylamine, diisopropylamine, piperidine, betaine and coniine. |
