The conical valve closure element is in contact with the matching conical seal when the valve is closed and spring loaded against the flow direction. The valve housing consists of two sleeves connected by a screw joint. The valve stem guide with holes allowing passage of fluid is trapped against a step in one valve housing half. The conical plug carries a toroidal sealing ring for positive sealing. The cylindrical part of this plug has helical grooves which ensures that when the valve is lifted it is imparted a slight rotating movement. No accurate guiding of the valve stem is required and it is not necessary to align the conical plug and seal it accurately.
