Previously adapted microorganisms (esp. yeasts) are propagated in a fermenter at 30-40 degrees C in a weakly acidic medium (pH pref. 4-6) with aeration at a rate of 150-300m3 per hour per m2 fermenter surface area on a nutrient medium contg. vegetable or animal fat as carbon source as well as other org. substances, then the resulting biomass is sepd. from the liq. and opt. converted by pressing and/or drying and/or forming into foodstuffs which are directly suitable for human nutrition or into prepns. suitable as animal fodder, opt. with the admixt. of other nutrients. |
