<p>The system allows users in a first stage to isolate themselves from dangerous areas by access to a platform in a cage, and in a second stage to evacuate the platform via an inclined tunnel leading to the next floor down, equipment being provided for each floor. The cage can be of robust construction and preferably of refractory material, and divided into compartments with platforms at each floor level. Access to the platform can be via an automatically shutting firestop door on runners, opened from the outside, and which cannot lock accidentally. The compartments can each be equipped with a first aid box, means for assisting cripples, and an emergency lamp, also an independent lighting system.</p> |
