<p>1420108 Adjustable die configuration ORSZAGOS GUMIIPARI VALLALAT 9 Feb 1973 [11 Feb 1972] 6416/73 Heading B5A An extrusion die lip 1, defining an undulating configuration, e.g. of a surface of a rubber tyre tread, comprises a flexible steel plate or a laminar assembly of steel plates, which are laterally constrained against extrusion pressure to define the configuration by supports 7 spaced apart across the width of the die and which are adjustably displaceable to flex the lip 1 transversely of the extrusion direction to alter the configuration and the depth of the extrusion outlet. The lip is clamped at each edge between the parts 3, 4, at which it is retained within a groove 311 by a packing 6 interposed between an outermost plate and the adjacent plate. The supports 7 may comprise rods 7, Fig. 4, which are individually adjustable by screws 8. The lip 1 may be supported in a die 3, Fig. 5, which is located to the die head 10 in a dovetail groove 3<SP>1</SP> and provided with steam heating or water cooling duets 12. The supports 14, Fig. 5 may alternatively each be adjustably dispaced by the piston 16 of a fluid pressure cylinder.</p> |
