<p>1425243 Closure device; portable containers FEREMBAL 2 May 1973 [23 May 1972] 20871/73 Headings B8T and B8D A closure device for a container with a flanged recessed cover comprises a one-piece moulded plastics reusable clamping ring carrying spaced C-clips and either one or two semicircular carrying handles. The cover 3 is a tight-fit within the mouth of the container 1 with its flange 5 resting on a flange 2 of the container 1. A series of C-clips 8 clamps the flanges 5, 2 together and are carried and spaced by a retaining ring 6. A semicircular handle 11 has a thin section 17 (Fig. 6) at its ends attached to heavier C-clips 9, 10 and a U- section over the remainder of its length, i.e. between 11<SP>1</SP> and 11<SP>1</SP> (Fig. 1). The handle 11 is attached to each intermediate C-clip 8 by a thin section 18 which must be cut through to allow the handle to flex at 14 and 15 into the carrying position and in particular to permit the entire clamping ring to be detached before the container lid 3 can be removed. The C-clip 10 is connected to the adjacent C- clip by a channel section 7; a similar section may be added between C-clip 9 and the adjacent C-clip 8 furthest from the handle 11.
