1430672 Peptides; protease inhibitors TAKEDA YAKUHIN KOGYO KK 6 April 1973 [7 April 1972 7 July 1972] 16586/73 Heading C3H Novel peptides of the general formula wherein R1 is an ethyl or isopropyl group and R2 is a hydrogen atom or methyl group, and, when R2 is a hydrogen atom, salts thereof are prepared by cultivating a microorganism of the genus Streptomyces capable of accumulating the desired product under aerobic conditions in a culture medium comprising an assimilable source of carbon and of nitrogen until the desired product is accumulated in the culture broth, and recovering it therefrom, followed optionally by salification of the product. Pharmaceutical compositions having protease inhibiting activity comprise, as active ingredient, a peptide of the above general formula or a physiologically tolerable salt thereof, in admixture or conjunction with a pharmaceutically suitable carrier.
