Edge connector system for PCBs - uses spring assembly on each edge which has series of mating sockets and pins

The apparatus is designed so that it may be inserted in a housing and consists of a PCB or a support plate for electrical apparatus; it has a row of spring loaded electrical contacts along one edge. At each edge of the PCB there is a spring arrangement (6) which is fastened onto the edge of the PCB (2) by means of angle pieces made out of thin sheet metal (8). Conductor wires (14) fastened to the PCB engage with conductor pieces (13) on the spring assembly (6). These conductor pieces are connected to springs (11). The spring assembly (6) has openings (12) on the side remote from the PCB to receive contact pins fastened to a corresponding assembly on a neighbouring PCB.
