The solar energy heating unit has a base (1) made of square section tube with an angle section frame (2) on it which supports a layer of insulation (3). Spaced above this is a plate (4) carrying a metal heat exchanger plate (5) with a pattern of pyramid shaped and cone shaped cells (5a) for circulating e.g. water. At one end of this circulating plate (5) is a perforated supply tube (7) for feeling water in, and a similar tube at the other end for removing the water so that it can be circulated in an external circuit. The upper face of this plate (5) is polished and blackened, and spaced above it is a glass plate. The whole is covered by a glass (12) pyramid.
