A tracked vehicle for travelling on ice has a drive with a hydrodynamic converter between the engine and the steering and drive systems and is designed to avoid troubles in the transmission when travelling downhill, the hydrostatic steering system being controlled by the engine speed. The mechanical steering system is connected to the turbine rotor of the hydrodynamic torque converter and the output of the mechanical steering system is connected through gearing to the control wheel of a plant wheel whose second central wheel connects to the output of the hydrostatic steering system and to the carrier of the satellite wheels of the first planet gear and also to the transmission to one track wheel of the vehicle.
