<p>1422560 Endless-track vehicles CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 21 Aug 1973 [28 Aug 1972] 5411/75 Divided out of 1422558 Heading B7H [Also in Division E1] An endless-track vehicle comprising track frames 14 mounted on a pivot shaft 19 carried by a main frame 11, and a bulldozer assembly 39 having push arms 41 mounted on the track frames or directly on the pivot shaft 19 by ball joints 42 located on the axis of the pivot shaft. Each track frame 14 comprises two telescopically disposed sections 17, 18 which have a recoil mechanism acting therebetween and carry idlers 12, 13 and bogey rollers 36. A track assembly 30 is entrained around the idlers 12, 13, the bogey rollers 36, support rollers 37, 38 mounted one on the main frame 11 and the other on the track frame 14, and a drive sprocket 20 mounted on the main frame 11 above the idlers 12, 13 and closer to the rear idler 13. The axis of the pivot shaft 19 is located longitudinally between the axis of the sprocket 20 and the front idler 12 and may be located on an imaginary line bisecting the wrap angle of the track assembly 30 on the sprocket. The sprockets are driven from an engine 23 through a torque converter 24, a shaft 25, a power shift transmission 26 detachably mounted on the rear end of the vehicle, a shaft 27 and bevel gears 28, 29. An operator's station 42 is positioned above the sprockets 20.</p> |
