A sealed lead/acid cell for a storage battery has, divided by separators, carrier of the positive electrodes with positive active material and carriers of the negative electrodes with negative active material. The capacity of the negative electrodes is at least as great as that of the positive electrodes and the electrodes are less than 3mm thick. The separator thickness is 10-200 % of that of the electrodes. The volume of the electrolyte in a cell, related to the pore volume X of the separator and the pore volume Y of the positive and negative active material does not exceed 2X + Y. This cell has a min. of hydrogen development. The components retain stable dimensions under their own weight. The cell requires no replenishment of electrolyte or water over long periods. |
