A transverse distributor 3 supplies the suspension to the passages 5 and is inclined to their axes to increase the inlet area of the passages 5 and thus reduce clogging. The suspension can be highly concentrated, e.g. 1-6% of fibres by weight. The passages 5 are cylindrical and lead into flattened passages 6 of reduced cross-sectional area which accelerate the suspension for delivery through outlets 7 into transverse chamber 11. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the constriction 8 is defined by a spring plate (17) and is adjustable, the lower lip of the outlet channel is formed by a thin plate (19) and the cross-sectional area of the distributor 3 is also adjustable.</p> |
