1436700 Treating effluents by oxidation LAMBEG INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION 1 May 1973 [5 May 1972] 20924/72 Heading C1C [Also in Divisions B1 and C3] An industrial effluent solution containing a blue-black sulphur dye is aerated (Example 5) in the presence of an oxidation catalyst composition formed by reacting a permanganate with a water soluble polymer containing hydroxy groups and then adding a salt to the reaction product to incorporate ions of an element (other than manganese, the inert gases, the halogens or the chalconides) selected from the elements of periods 4, 5 and/or 6 of the Periodic Table or thorium, boron or aluminium into the composition (see Division B1). The chemical oxidation demand of the effluent solution is reduced from 400 to 79 p.p.m. and the blue-black colouring is removed.
|
