Water level regulator for wasing or dishwashing machine comprises a wall separating the tub from a low-vol. chamber forming an air trap in the upper region of which the level regulator is located and which includes a drain pipe and an air outlet opening. An overflow edge of the wall is located at a given level of filling of the tub. The chamber is disposed beneath the tub and fixed to the bottom of the tub by means of a cover with an extension which is divided by the wall into an ascending column and an overflow channel. The air outlet opening is located in the cover with a screen in front of it. The ascending column communicates with the bottom of the tub via a pipe, and the drain pipe communicates with the suction pipe of the drain pump of the machine.
