The pad holder comprises a flat sheet of metal or rigid plastic, of rectangular shape with the opposing long sides bent upwards to form flanges (1). These may be curved in section, or straight. The cleaning pad (2), a cloth or foam sheet impregnated with an abrasive, fits against the undersurface of the holder and has its ends folded over the flanges, inside the holder. These ends are retained in position by a spring clip which has a double section raised central rib (3) exerting outwards pressure (f1, f2) on them. Each side of the clip is formed upwards to provide an improved compressive grip.
