1444938 Light fitting S AUERBACH 29 Aug 1973 [1 Feb 1973] 40722/73 Heading F4R A light fitting comprises a base for fitting to a wall or ceiling, the base having an opening to permit access for making electrical connections, a lamp holder and a cover which in a first position directly closes the opening and in a second position permits access. In an embodiment a base-plate 30 is attached to the ceiling 18 by adhesive 60 and has a cover 38 pivoted 42 thereto and a catch 48. The diffuser 42 is a snap-fit on the sides 32 of the base (Fig. 4, not shown). In another embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) the base-plate (30a) is secured by screws to the junction box. The cover and base-plate may be an integral plastics moulding with a thinned portion as a hinge (Fig. 6, not shown) or the cover may screw into the base-plate (Fig. 8, not shown). A lamp holder for a single or doubleended lamp is located on the cover and may be integrally moulded therewith (Figs. 6 and 13, not shown). The diffuser 14 may be secured by lugs and slots, a bayonet-type fitting or magnets (Figs. 11, 10 and 12 respectively, not shown). In one embodiment (Fig. 13) there is no diffuser but rather a base-plate (30h) which has a deep cylindrical pendant portion (140), while in another embodiment (Fig. 14, not shown) a translucent diffuser (14j) has a central opening (154) and is pivoted to the base-plate (30j). |
