<p>The gantry comprises a horizontal beam held clear of the ground by columns and along which a crab travels. A body forming a weight (6) is suspended from the beam (1) by one or more components, allowing it to oscillate freely in the lengthwise direction of the beam. A damping device (8), acting in the same direction, is coupled at one end to the weight and at the other to the beam. The length of the suspension devices can be such that oscillation frequency of the weight is the same as that of the gantry. The weight can be suspended from the gantry at a point where oscillation is greatest.</p> |
