Means are provided to insert additional pulses between pulses of the pulse train. The system described measures flow of oil, and the alteration is dependent on the temperature of the oil so that the measurement is standardized. In the particular system of Fig. 2, pulses from a turbine flow meter are applied to an inverter 28 and then a converter 31. The converter (Fig. 5, not shown) is a serial to BCD converter whose outputs are differentiated and commoned in an OR-gate 32 with the result that 9 of every 10 pulses from the flow meter appear at the output of the OR-gate to be counted. A . frequency at twice that from the flow meter is derived from both input and output of the inverter 28 and applied to further pulse converters 54, 55 (as Fig. 5, not shown) whose outputs are fed via AND-gates D1-D8, an OR-gate 112 and a divide by 10 circuit 113 to a further input of OR-gate 32. The AND-gates D1-D8 are controlled by the value stored in a memory 109 which is a continually updated version of the temperature at a sensor 26 derived from an A.D. converter 63. The arrangement is such that up to 2 more pulses for every 10 input pulses can be added. Therefore the pulse train to the counter contains between 90% and 110% of the input pulses dependent on the temperature of the oil.</p> |
