446,027. Filters. BROWN, J., 8, Kells Gardens, Low Fell, Gateshead. Dec. 21, 1934, No. 36702. [Class 46] A joint is made between a filter casing 1 and a loaded member, holding filtering rings 8 under compression around a perforated pipe 2, by means of a diaphragm 5 of leather or other flexible material, the periphery of which is clamped between the casing 1 and a screw cap 7. As shown the pipe 2 itself constitutes the loaded member being formed with an outer flange 2b and an inner partition 2a against which bears a spring 4. The pipe is imperforate above the partition and the lower end of the pipe is free to move in the outlet bore 1a of the casing. The liquid to be filtered is supplied through a bore 1b. Under excessive pressure the end of the pipe 2 uncovers a port 1f and allows liquid to pass direct from inlet to outlet. A copper gauze tube 9 may be arranged between the rings 8 and the tube 2. Specification 406,068 is referred to in the Provisional Specification. |
