<p>1435852 Shaft seals BORG-WARNER CORP 13 Feb 1974 [8 March 1973] 7416/75 Divided out of 1435851 Heading F2B To facilitate its installation, a mechanical seal cartridge S includes a stub shaft 29, whose ends are couplable separately to the ends of shafts (13 and 20, Fig. 1, not shown) so as to seal the latter. As shown, and flanges 90, 91, which are secured by screws 92 to housing 33, carry stationary seal rings 99, 199, which are urged axially inwardly by springs 102a, 202a. Rotating seal rings 113, 114, e.g. of carbon, are sealingly mounted on impeller 128. Arrangements for circulating cooling fluid are as described in Specification 1,435,851. On disassembling the end flanges 90, 91 from the housing 33, members 105, 205 prevent the rings 102 and 202 from being dissociated from the flanges 90, 91. (For Figure see next column.)</p> |
