A test set provided for automobiles includes a variable alternating torque which is imparted to the axle of the vehicle. A fixed plate (7) is attached to the hub (8) of one of the vehicle wheels (14) and a transmission system operates between the plate and the axle. An additional plate (17) may be provided supporting the wheels (14) and a vertical alternating movement may be imparted to this plate. A deformation gauge is attached to one of the elements of the transmissions between the axle and the plate.
