1526346 Stackable cartons DECIDUOUS FRUIT BOARD 21 Sept 1976 [25 Sept 1975] 39165/76 Heading B8P A carton has end walls each reinforced by an insert 16 and an end piece 14 which are also designed to facilitate stacking of the loaded cartons. A paperboard or corrugated board blank comprising a base 18 and sides 20 and end 22 has flaps 32 folded across and spaced from the upstanding ends 22, the insert which may be of timber, chipboard, metal or a plastics, being held in contact with the ends 22 and flaps 22 by U-shaped end pieces 14 of polypropylene injection mouldings or metal pressings. The corners 50 of the end pieces are extended upward to locate a superposed carton. In a modification the portions 50 are replaced by projections 16.3 on the inserts and there may or may not be hollow projections on the end pieces to enclose the projections 16.3. The carton can have ventilation holes in the blank and has top flaps 28 held closed by tabs 36 engaging the end pieces. |
