1308542 Steam reforming hydrocarbons AZOTE ET PRODUCTS CHIMIQUES SA 5 March 1970 [20 March 1969] 10697/70 Heading C5E [Also in Division B1] Hydrocarbons are steam reformed to produce H 2 - and CH 4 -containing gases in the presence of catalysts formed by impregnating shaped pieces of a carrier with a thermally decomposable compound of cobalt and/or nickel in solution and thermally decomposing the compound(s) in situ, the carrier being composed of, by weight, 70-90% combined and uncombined MgO, 10-30% of a spinel of magnesium with cobalt and/or nickel and optionally also with another trivalent metal, and optionally an aluminium silicate (see Division B1-B2). The example describes the reforming of a light boiling fuel (45-120‹ C) over NiO or MgO/NiO/Cr 2 O 3 /Na 2 O at a steam to carbon ratio of 2À5 or 4 : 1, 18 bar, flow rate 1, inlet temperature of 500‹ C. and outlet temperature of 660‹ or 750‹ C. |
